When the Sedin twins are on, it's hard to beat the Vancouver Canucks. When they combine for six points in one night, it's virtually impossible. That's exactly what Henrik and Daniel did on Tuesday night as the NHL's best team beat the Phoenix Coyotes in overtime.
Canucks Vs. Coyotes: Sedin Twins Combine For 6 Points As Vancouver Wins
Dan Hamhuis scored the OT winner for the Canucks, who stepped over a 2-0 Coyotes lead in the first period. Vancouver took a 3-2 lead on goals from Hamhuis, Henrik Sedin and Sami Salo, but a Lauri Korpikoski goal late in the second period tied things up.
A scoreless third period gave way to overtime, where the Sedin’s framed a chance for Hamhuis, who beat Ilya Bryzagalov for the two points in the standings.
Elsewhere in the NHL...
Sharks 3, Predators 2 (OT): San Jose used an overtime breakaway goal from Patrick Marleau to create a five point cushion in the Pacific Division. They beat the Preds, who wouldn't have had a chance without the fantastic play of Pekka Rinne. Raise your hand if you've heard that one before.
Senators 2, Devils 1: Ottawa’s Erik Condra scored with less than three minutes left in the third period to make those people that believe the Devils can still make the playoffs laugh at themselves a little bit.
Islanders 4, Maple Leafs 3 (OT): Blake Comeau said on NHL Network on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning that he believes the Isles can still make the playoffs. Yep, just soak that in a little bit.
Flyers 4, Oilers 1: Philadelphia used a strong first period -- in which they didn’t allow a single even strength shot on goal for the entire 20 minutes -- to run over the last-place Oilers and break a four-game losing skid. Philly outshot Edmonton 17-1 in the first. Not a typo.
Panthers 3, Blackhawks 2: Can't keep win streaks going forever, right? Florida snapped Chicago's eight-game streak with 37 saves from Tomas Vokoun on Tuesday night.
Wild 5, Avalanche 2: Minnesota beat Colorado. Don’t act surprised.
