Chris Young Placed On DL By Mets With Biceps Injury

With Chris Young still dealing with a biceps injury, the New York Mets have placed their big starter on the 15-day disabled list. The move is retroactive to April 11.

Young started on April 10, but originally had his April 15 start pushed back to April 17 due to biceps tendinitis. He threw a problem-free bullpen on Thursday, which was certainly encouraging, but the Mets' schedule forced them to make a move. The Mets played a doubleheader on Thursday and play another doubleheader on Saturday, and they didn't want to risk overtaxing their bullpen in the event that they started Young and he couldn't go very long.

Young does have a long injury history, but this particular problem doesn’t appear to be severe. Pat Mitsch has been recalled to work out of the bullpen, but Young should be back soon. He’s allowed two runs in two starts, with six walks and 12 strikeouts.
