New York Mets outfielder Angel Pagan left night's win against the Houston Astros with pain in his side. Initially, the Mets were hoping it wouldn't be more than a day-to-day injury, with Pagan himself suggesting that he would miss just two or three games. Pagan's not a doctor, though, and today the Mets put Pagan on the 15-day disabled list.

To take Pagan’s spot on the 25-man roster, the Mets recalled 27-year-old outfielder Jason Pridie, who was hitting .186/.226/.356 for Triple-A Buffalo, so he should fit perfectly into the middle of the lineup and will start tonight against the Diamondbacks.
Pagan was one of the more valuable players in the National League last season, according to FanGraphs’ WAR, but he’s off to a slow start this season. He was only 11 for 69 to start 2011, though his .164 BABIP suggests that he was suffering from some measure of bad luck.
