The New York Mets were hoping that defensive wunderkind Angel Pagan would be ready to come off the disabled list on Saturday and resume roaming the Citi Field pastures. But Adam Rubin of ESPN says the Mets have already pushed that timetable back:
Angel Pagan Injury: More Pain Delays Return
Angel Pagan recurring pain in side. Coming to NY for exam.
Pagan suffered a pulled oblique muscle in an April 21 game against the Houston Astros, and while he was at first optimistic that he would just remain day-to-day, he was eventually forced onto the disabled list, and it looks like the original two weeks isn't going to be enough.
The Mets called up Jason Pridie to take Pagan's spot on the roster, and Pridie has responded well, hitting .242/.306/.485 and playing solid defense. Pridie is a career .275/.319/.422 hitter in the minors, though, so the Mets should be thankful they've received any help at all, and they should eagerly await the return of Pagan.
