Ramsey County, Minnesota officials have announced they'll partner with the Minnesota Vikings for the cause of building a new, retractable-roof stadium for the long-time Minneapolis tenants. Minneapolis also unveiled a proposal, one which the Vikings did not seem thrilled about. The new suburban building is proposed to be built on the site of the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant in Arden Hills.
New Minnesota Vikings Stadium In Arden Hills Announced At Press Conference
So far, Vikings fans at SB Nation Minnesota and Daily Norseman seem to approve.
This would mean a move about seven miles northwest of the Metrodome, which would certainly sound better to any Vikes fan than the move to Los Angeles that’s long been rumored, despite Roger Goodell’s insistence that the team belongs in Minnesota.
The proposal calls for a $884 million facility, plus $173 million for general infrastructure development, to replace the Metrodome, which is still being repaired from last season’s snow cave-in, last we heard. That’s about $300 million more than it would require to build a new stadium on the Metrodome site, but there are road construction concerns.
