Diego has walked out on his club minutes before the biggest game of their season.
Wolfsburg’s Diego Walks Out On Team
Bild is reporting that the Brazilian was unhappy with being left out of Felix Magath’s starting lineup in the final game of the season against Hoffenheim. Once the lineup was revealed to the club, Diego grabbed his things and left the locker room. Wolfsburg is in a massive relegation battle with Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach. They are only out of the relegation playoff spot on goal differential.
Wolfsburg spokesman Gerd Voss spoke to the media shortly before the match against Hoffenheim started and confirmed that Diego had walked out. Wolfsburg will only dress 17 players in their match. Strangely, before today’s match, Diego’s father and advisor Djair da Cunha announced that Diego would be looking to leave the club in the summer.
Diego has been solid yet unspactacular in his return to the German Bundesliga. He has six goals and a team-leading 9 assists.
