After more than a month of discussions to find an amicable solution to their differences, Wolfsburg and Diego have decided to go their separate ways. Before the May 14 match at the Rhein-Neckar Arena against Hoffenheim, Diego walked out of the team locker room and left the arena when he found out that he was not in the starting eleven.
Wolfsburg And Diego To Go Separate Ways
Diego and manager Felix Magath tried to hash out their differences in what the official VfL Wolfsburg website calls “man-to-man discussions”. After these discussions Magath said, “After these talks it was clear that working together would be difficult and that it would simply be better to go our seperate ways.” While he spends the summer searching for a new club, because he is still under contract with Wolfsburg he will train with them.
A move back home to Brazil has become commonplace for Brazilian "superstars" that come across problems in Europe over the last few years. Botofogo has apparently expressed interest in bringing Diego to the club. Diego told Globoesporte, ""Perhaps next week there will be news. Botafogo, no doubt, have shown interest, but there is no agreement yet. Going back to Brazil, you get closer to the national squad. All that will be taken into consideration."
