Novak Djokovic just keeps on winning. And so far, the streaking Serbian has run into little resistance at the 2011 French Open.
French Open 2011 Results: Novak Djokovic Keeps On Rolling, Earns Quarterfinals Berth
Djokovic punched his ticket to the second week of the Roland Garros fortnight with a dominant fourth round victory over Frenchman Richard Gasquet. Djokovic, who has yet to lose in 2011, dispatched Gasquet 6-4, 6-4, 6-2, hitting 33 winners to Gasquet’s 16 and winning 89% of his first serve points.
Djokovic moves on to the quarterfinals, where he might have an even easier time. His quarterfinal opponent, Italy’s Fabio Fognini, needed five sets and an extended fifth-set tiebreaker to beat Albert Montanes in the fourth round, and sustained a mysterious injury in that deciding fifth set. At full strength, Fognini would appear to be little trouble for Djokovic, the world’s hottest player; with an injury and fatigued, he might be blown off the court in embarrassingly short order.
