Jonathan Broxton had an MRI on his sore elbow the other day that came back pretty clean, aside from a bone spur and a bruise. The Dodgers' intent at that point was to give Broxton a few days to rest up. But now, via Bill Shaikin, they've decided to go the safer route:

#Dodgers put Broxton on DL, recall Jansen
Instead of giving Broxton a few days, they’ll give him a few weeks, hoping that the time off allows his elbow to start feeling better. It isn’t guaranteed to work, but it stands a better chance than, say, just keeping him out for the weekend. The rest will be good for his elbow, and presumably good for his head.
Kenley Jansen returns just days after being sent to AAA. In 11 appearances with the Dodgers, he racked up 22 strikeouts and eight walks, but don't expect to see him getting any closing opportunities in Broxton's absence. Those'll go to Hong-Chih Kuo and/or Vicente Padilla.
