Rajon Rondo has been key to the Celtics' NBA championship bids since Boston went all in with trades for Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. But Rondo's never had an injury quite like the elbow injury he sustained tonight.
Rajon Rondo Injury: Celtics Star Leaves Game 3 Vs. Heat With Hurt Elbow
After getting involved in a scrum with Dwyane Wade, Rondo was pushed to the floor, landing awkwardly on his elbow. It looked like a dislocated elbow, and Rondo left both the floor and the sideline, heading to the locker room for further examination. He returned to the bench late in the third quarter, but has not re-entered the game.
In Rondo's stead, the Celtics' options at point guard are Delonte West and Carlos Arroyo.
The Celtics haven’t exactly struggled without Rondo. When Rondo left the game, Boston led 60-50; since, the Celtics have actually extended their lead, and now have an 11-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
