Texas Rangers starter Alexi Ogando was expected to miss his scheduled start against the Yankees on Sunday afternoon because of a blister, and that’s exactly what happened. Anthony Andro (via the Star-Telegram):
Alexi Ogando Misses Sunday Start, Expected Back Friday
Ogando came out of his Tuesday start early because of a recurrence of the blister issues that have plagued him this season. He said Saturday he wanted to start, but the Rangers decided otherwise.
Ogando hasn’t thrown a bullpen session since Tuesday. He had a fake fingernail put on his finger to try to shield the blister.
Sunday, David Bush started in Ogando’s place against the Yankees, and gave up two runs in the first four innings but was lifted after Derek Jeter led off the fifth with his first home run of the season. At that point the Rangers still led 4-3, but wound up losing 12-5 when the bullpen (especially Cody Eppley) collapsed.
Ogando’s expected to make his next scheduled start, Friday night against the Angels in Arlington.
