College World Series 2011, Virginia Vs. California Score: Cavaliers Take 2-0 Lead In 7th Inning
Virginia’s Keith Werman started the inning with a single up the middle and advanced to second on a Chris Taylor walk. This led Cal to take out reliever Logan Scott and replace him with Matt Flemer. Flemer induced John Barr into a ground out, but this moves both runners ahead on the bases. A John Hicks single and a Steven Proscia sac fly scored both runs.
Danny Hultzen, who left the game as a pitcher in the seventh inning, remained in the game as the team’s designated hitter. He grounded out to end the inning. On the mound, he finished with 6.1 scoreless innings and six strikeouts.
