White Sox starter John Danks was removed from his last game with an oblique strain that required a trip to the disabled list. Danks, though - while sore - soon thereafter said that he was feeling much better, and an MRI has confirmed that the strain isn't as bad as so many others have been. Mark Gonzales:
John Danks Injury: MRI Reveals Minor Oblique Strain
Danks said MRI Monday showed a minor strain, feels considerably better.
A minor oblique strain is still an oblique strain, but this reduces Danks’ timetable. Now, instead of missing a month or more, Danks could return to the rotation just after the All-Star break. That is, of course, as long as his oblique heals the way that it’s supposed to. Pretty much everything about the human oblique is super annoying so I guess you never know.
Conveniently for the White Sox, with Danks on the DL, they can just shift from a six-man rotation to the more normal five. And when Danks returns, they’ll go back to six again. Why should life be complicated?
