With the activation of Lester from the DL, Francona said he would be cautious with his left-handed ace in Monday’s start, limiting him to about 80-85 pitches.
“He feels good,” Francona said of Lester, who has a 2.08 ERA in his last six starts. “There’s no restrictions physically, no issues there, which is really good.”
The Red Sox placed J.D. Drew on the DL today with a left shoulder impingement, making room for Lester on the active roster. At 5:30 p.m. ET the local radar looked like this:

Hopefully, the rain will clear out in time for the Red Sox and Royals to get the game in and for Lester, who has a 10-4 record, 1.207 WHIP and 3.31 ERA, to make his return.
