Vladimir Guerrero hasn't played since July 10, when he was hit by a pitch from Kyle Weiland. Initially considered day-to-day, further examination revealed a hand fracture that sent Guerrero to the disabled list. But on Tuesday, according to Jeff Zrebiec, he has rejoined the team after serving the minimum stint on the sidelines.
Vladimir Guerrero Injury: Orioles Activate Aging Slugger
Guerrero is off dl, and in #orioles lineup, batting cleanup.
Guerrero’s minor league rehab assignment lasted all of one game with double-A Bowie. In 2009, he played two games with A-ball Rancho Cucamonga. In 2003, he played three games with A-ball Brevard County. Three rehab stints, and Guerrero has still never played a single game in triple-A in his life. He went straight from double-A to the majors with the Expos, and still the streak of avoidance lives on.
As for the Orioles, I guess they'll be happy to get their regular DH back even though he's bad now. A lot of Orioles are bad, so if anything, Guerrero makes for a good teammate. Plus, there's a certain void that's been left given Luke Scott's season-ending shoulder surgery. Guerrero will do his best to help fill it.
