Remember Rafael Soriano? Of course you do. And he's back! MLB.com:
Rafael Soriano Injury: Yankees Reliever Activated From DL
Soriano’s been gone since May, when his early-season struggles alerted the team that something was awry. He was diagnosed with elbow inflammation and told to rest, but after resting, Soriano began and completed a throwing program and minor-league rehab assignment without incident. So he’s back now, having appeared in four games in the minors.
Steve Garrison was optioned to the minors to make roster room. Garrison made one Major League appearance, in the ninth inning of a 10-3 win over the Mariners. Garrison was inserted with one out in the frame, as Joe Girardi insisted upon causing a delay where a delay was not in any way necessary. Garrison is not particularly good and may never come back, but he's only 24, so whatever.
Soriano will be eased back into his old role. The fact that David Robertson is amazing makes this easier, and perhaps unnecessary.
