Steelers’ Hines Ward Arrested For DUI In Georgia

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested for driving under the influence in DeKalb County, Ga. early Saturday morning, TMZ reports. Ward posted his $1,000 bond and was released.

Ward’s career has been marked by reliable excellence and occasionally dirty play on the field, but the Super Bowl XL MVP’s reputation off the field has been nothing but gold. Ward is the reigning champion of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, and has been so active in the mixed-race community (Ward is half-black, half-Korean) that he was named to the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders by Barack Obama in 2010.

It is unclear what punishment or suspension Ward might face from the NFL or the Steelers, given the current NFL lockout. The last player of Ward’s caliber cited for DUI was Braylon Edwards in September 2010; Edwards missed part of the New York Jets’ next game as a result of the arrest.
