The Logan Mankins drama with the New England Patriots will end peacefully. Mankins and the Patriots agreed to terms on a six-year contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. This will keep Mankins with the Patriots through the 2017 season and it comes on the same day Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he hoped to soon make Mankins a "Patriot for life."
Logan Mankins, Patriots Agree One Six-Year Contract, According To Report
It’s hard to believe Mankins and the team agreed on a six-year deal after what transpired last season. Mankins held out for the first eight weeks of the season in protest of his contract. He was one of those fifth year players that, in a normal year would have been an unrestricted free agent, but with the uncapped season was actually a restricted free agent.
He was the team’s 2005 first round pick and has yet to secure a long-term contract so this has to be a happy day for him.
There’s been no word yet on the money involved in the deal.
