We knew the New England Patriots gave G Logan Mankins a new six-year contract earlier this week and we said it was a win-win for both sides -- assuming the numbers matched up. The Patriots made him a rich man with a six-year deal worth $51 million, according to ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss.
Logan Mankins’ Contract With Patriots Reportedly Worth $51 Million
That’s $8.5 million per year which makes him the highest paid offensive lineman on a per-year basis. He also received a $20 million signing bonus.
Mankins was due just over $10 million next season with the franchise tag so the Patriots may have come out ahead on the salary cap by doing the deal.
It's wild to think about how far each side has come throughout this. It was just a year ago that Mankins was sitting out half the season in protest of his contract. Now they're able to make a deal, and a very rich deal at that. If Mankins keeps QB Tom Brady healthy while he's there, it will be well worth it.
