The first quarter of the preseason game between the New York Jets and Houston Texans is gone, and the public has learned...nothing, really. It was an uneventful period of football as both offenses played an extremely conservative style, leading to neither Matt Schaub or Mark Sanchez looking great or terrible. The only score was on a Nick Folk field goal, and the Jets lead by a score of 3-0.
Jets Vs. Texans Score: New York Leads 3-0 After Uneventful First Quarter
Matt Leinart is entering the game for Schaub at the start of the second quarter, while Sanchez is not expected to play a third series. Schaub was 2/5 passing for 20 yards, while Sanchez is 6/7 passing, but only for 43 yards.
The Texans' pass rush is looking effective in their new 3-4 setup under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Xavier Adibi and Earl Mitchell both have a sack, while rookie J.J. Watt is living up to the hype at 3-4 defensive end. The Jets' best defensive performer has been Josh Mauga, who has a sack and two tackles for a loss.
