WR Jeremy Maclin has been absent for all of Philadelphia Eagles training camp and no one seemed to know why. It was called an "undisclosed illness" but, despite some rumors floating around, we haven't heard exactly what's been wrong with him.
Jeremy Maclin Had Cancer Scare; Expected To Return To Eagles
In an interview with Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, Maclin revealed that he had a false cancer scare earlier this summer and has been getting tested -- the results were negative -- ever since.
“I was tested for everything and every single test came back negative. I don’t have mono, I don’t have AIDS, leukemia, all the things people were guessing on, there was nothing. I was being tested for lymphoma and thank GOD everything has come back negative.”
Lymphoma is a form of cancer so the fact that the results are negative and he’s expected to recover immediately makes this a win-win situation for everyone involved. We didn’t know what the situation was but I’m glad to hear that it will ultimately turn out OK.
One of the final steps came last week when he had surgery to remove his lymph nodes and as soon as he recovers from that surgery, he’ll return to the Eagles.
He’s been dealing with this since last May and has kept it quiet ever since. After hearing the story, I can understand his desire to keep a situation like this private.
