Jeremy Maclin and Steve Smith joined Eagles practice on Saturday for the first time since the end of the NFL lockout and the start of training camp. Smith's absence was, of course, much better defined. He had been recovering from offseason micro-fracture surgery on his knee that threatened to hold him out for the first few weeks of the regular season. The injury was big reason why the Giants ultimately let go of the receiver. However, Smith's return to practice sends a big signal that perhaps the receiver is recovering much more quickly than expected, and could potentially contribute sooner rather than later.
Saturday's practice marked the first time that Philadelphia's top trio of wideouts, with the inclusion of DeSean Jackson, were able to participate on the same field together.
