The knees of NFL players are breaking down all over Heinz Field in Thursday's preseason exhibition between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jason Avant Injury: Wide Receiver Suffers Right Knee Contusion In Eagles Vs. Steelers
First Pittsburgh's first and second string left tackles -- Jonathan Scott and Marcus Gilbert -- suffered similar left knee injuries in the first half. Now Philadelphia Eagles' veteran wide receiver Jason Avant has reportedly left the game due to a right knee contusion.
According to Philadelphia Inquirer beat writer Jonathan Tamari, Avant’s return is questionable. No further information is available at this point.
Avant has played in Philadelphia since the team grabbed him in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft, often serving as the offense’s third or fourth receiver. In five years with the Eagles, the 28-year-old has caught 154 receptions for 1,872 yards and nine touchdowns.
