The New York Jets picked up their first win of the preseason with a strong 27-7 performance against the Cincinnati Bengals on a rainy Sunday night in New Jersey. Mark Sanchez and Plaxico Burress will look for more performances like Sunday's, as they look to turn into a great quarterback-wide receiver combo. Sanchez and Burress hooked up for a 26-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, extending the Jets' lead to 17-7.
Bengals Vs. Jets Final Score: Plaxico Burress Shines, Andy Dalton Struggles In New York’s 27-7 Victory
Sanchez finished the first half with 12-of-20 completions for 173 yards and two touchdowns. He had a 16-yard throw to Santonio Holmes in the first quarter. Burress finished the night with three receptions for 66 yards. Dustin Keller picked up 43 of his 73 yards on the drive that ended with the Sanchez-to-Burress touchdown.
Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton struggled again in the preseason. He completed just 8-of-19 passes 86 yards and threw two interceptions. He averaged just 4.5 yards per attempt. Bruce Gradkowski and Dan LeFevour didn't offer much in the way of support as backups, combining for five completions in 12 attempts. Rookie wide receiver A.J. Green grabbed just one pass for eight yards.
The Jets looked ready to roll to another AFC championship game, but the Bengals clearly have much work to do, especially with a rookie quarterback scheduled to be the Opening Game starter.
