Bad news for my Kansas City Chiefs -- QB Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers are looking very sharp. Last week in the Chargers preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks, Rivers connected on 5-of-6 passes for 87 yards and a touchdown in limited work.
Chargers Top Cowboys And Philip Rivers Looks Great (Again)
In the second preseason game of the season agains the Dallas Cowboys, Rivers once again looked sharp completing 8-of-11 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. WR Vincent Jackson has looked solid as well catching three balls on Sunday night for 49 yards.
The Chargers beat the Cowboys, 20-7.
If the preseason means anything, the Chargers are going to be very good last year. Rivers had an impressive 2010 campaign but the Chargers had a ridiculous run on injuries at receiver and played half the year without Jackson. Chances are, that won’t be the case in 2011.
And chances are the Chargers won’t have a special teams unit that costs them multiple games. That means you can expect San Diego to be competing for the AFC West title. After watching Rivers through half of the preseason, they have to be the favorites.
