At the end of the first half of tonight's Monday Night Football game, the New York Giants lead the Chicago Bears 20-6.
Bears vs. Giants Update: Brandon Jacobs, David Carr Give Giants 20-6 Lead
Giants running back Brandon Jacobs injected some life into what had became a punt and field goal-filled first half, juking one Bears safety (Major Wright) before carrying another (Chris Harris) into the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown that gave the G-Men a 10-3 lead early in the second quarter. Giants backup quarterback David Carr connected with wide receiver Domenik Hixon for a five-yard touchdown pass with 40 seconds remaining in the half.
The Giants had been set-up with first-and-goal at the 5-yard line following a blocked punt by rookie linebacker Greg Jones.
In a bit of potentially bad news for the Giants, starting cornerback Terrell Thomas suffered a right leg injury while blitzing quarterback Jay Cutler late in the first half. As medical staff attended to Thomas, several of his teammates and head coach Tom Coughlin surrounded Thomas, who was able to walk to the locker room under his own power.
The Giants are already short-handed at cornerback with 2011 first-round pick Prince Amukamara out with a broken bone in his foot.
