Giants fans remember all too well the pain of losing a top DB in the preseason to a season-ending injury (Jason Sehorn, anyone?). They might have just lost another one in Terrell Thomas, who left the Chicago Bears - New York Giants preseason game Monday night with a torn ACL.
Bears vs. Giants Update: DB Terrell Thomas Leaves Game With Torn ACL
Thomas tumbled into teammate Jason Pierre-Paul while trying to sack the Bears' QB. His leg seemed to slam against Pierre-Paul's and fell to the ground. He would stand up and walk gingerly to the sidelines, while flinging his hands in the air in frustration.
It’s a tough loss for the G-men. Thomas is considered a player that New York can’t afford to lose and, assuming what we know about ACL injuries, he’s likely gone for a large chunk of the season, if not the entire thing.
Thomas actually sat out a big part of practice with soreness in his right knee.
The Giants are already short-handed at cornerback with 2011 first-round pick Prince Amukamara out with a broken bone in his foot.
