Bryant McKinnie Reportedly Drawing Interest From Baltimore Ravens

The Minnesota Vikings surprisingly parted ways with OT Bryant McKinnie when the new league year opened and he has yet to find a home for the 2011 season. The last we heard on him his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was sending an email to teams offering his services for only (only?) $2.5 million.

The latest news on McKinnie is tying him to the Baltimore Ravens. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun Times reports that the Ravens are "very interested" in McKinnie for the 2011 season. The Ravens just signed OT Mark LeVoir after the New England Patriots released him, and they have rookie OT Jah Reid as a possibility as well.

A team may be more interested in signing McKinnie after the first week of the season so his entire 2011 salary won’t be guaranteed. That, or a contract could include heavy clauses relating to his weight.

McKinnie reportedly came back to the Vikings facility out of shape and overweight so he’s not necessarily ready to step in and play immediately but if he’s in shape, he could be a heck of a bargain on the free agent market right now.

We’ll see if the Ravens make a play for him. He’s had his issues but Baltimore is a veteran-heavy team that can handle guys like McKinnie.
