Bryant McKinnie, Baltimore Ravens Reach Agreement On Contract

On Tuesday morning it was reported that the Baltimore Ravens were "very interested" in free agent OT Bryant McKinnie and on Tuesday afternoon it's now being reported that the two sides have reached an agreement on a deal.

No word yet on the money involved or the length of the contract. He was reportedly looking for about $2.5 million. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were a short-term deal as many of the free agents still on the market are signing one-year deals in order to try again at free agency next year.

McKinnie is clearly talented and has the ability to become one of the best offensive tackles in the game. What's not clear, however, is how much he has dedicated himself to being physically. Reportedly, McKinnie showed up to the Vikings last month out of shape which is one of the reasons they cut ties with him.

The reason I think this could work in Baltimore is because the Ravens are a very veteran team that has a tendency to keep some of these guys in line as far as preparing themselves physically and mentally for the season.

The Ravens signed OT Mark LeVoir recently and have rookie OT Jah Reid so McKinnie could quickly challenge for playing time on the right side (if that's where the Ravens indeed put him).

Check out Baltimore Beatdown to see what Ravens fans think of adding McKinnie.
