After ESPN NFL analyst Merril Hoge took to task Tim Tebow's football skills, the Denver Broncos quarterback opened up to the Denver Post's Woody Paige about the criticism. In the context of the article, Tebow has a moment of frustration and says, "[...] I felt like it was grabbed back away from me." He's referring to the team's starting quarterback position, which appears to be Kyle Orton's to lose.
Tim Tebow Fires Back At Merril Hoge, Answers Criticism
Tebow went on and took his critics to task. He believes they are making judgments without having seen him practice or play in an NFL game. To his detractors, Tebow tells Paige:
"Others who say I won't make it are wrong. They don't know what I'm capable of and what's inside me. My family and my friends have been bothered by what's gone on, and I tell them to pay no attention to it. I'm relying as always on my faith."
To be fair, Hoge did respond to the controversy by telling Tebow that he wants to be wrong about the quarterback.
John Bena of Mile High Report hopes Tebow is up to face the adversity that is coming his way:
I think we would all be disappointed in how it all went down, but we are also getting a glimpse at what might be the first adversity Tebow has dealt with on a football field. How he handles it is huge, at least in my opinion, because there is more to come!
The Broncos' first preseason game is on Aug. 11 against the Dallas Cowboys. Tebow will get his first chance at proving his critics wrong.
