Suspicions that Tim Tebow had lost his handle on the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback job were confirmed Monday night, as the team released its official depth chart in preparation for their first preseason game at Dallas. As many expected, Tebow was listed as the back-up, with Kyle Orton slotted as the starter.
Tim Tebow No. 2 On Denver Broncos QB Depth Chart
The move is a stark change from the expectation many had entering into the offseason that the former-Heisman winner would be handed the reigns to the team. As recently as July 27th, Tebow was the assumed starter, and the Broncos were desperately trying to shop Kyle Orton around the league.
Now Tebow finds himself locked into a surprisingly-fierce battle with Brady Quinn for the team's back-up role. Still, the 23-year-old former-first round pick remains unwavering against the sudden onslaught of criticism.
“I’ll always use the negativity as more motivation to work even harder and become even stronger,” Tebow said. “I’ll practice as good as I can, but I know that I play even better, with the qualities I have - leadership, my ability to make something happen in games, winning. And I know there are a lot of people who believe in me as a player and a person, and I don’t want to let them down.”
