Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III will be traveling to Indianapolis on Thursday to participate in the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine. Although the Baylor Bears' quarterback is not expected to throw at the combine, there will still be plenty of scrutiny on him in the coming week, as he is projected to be the No. 2 QB in this year's draft. He figures to be selected in the top five, overall.

Jarrett Bell of USA Today relayed some comments made by Griffin over the weekend.

“This is a business trip,” Griffin, 22, says after a workout in Arizona last weekend. “I’m the CEO of Griffin Enterprises. It’s my job to go sell my product.”

He had this to say regarding throwing in the Combine:

"It would be foolish to say it's even a fair and equitable environment for throwing," he says. "When you show up in a game, you're never going in without a game plan. It's a disadvantage to throw when you have no idea of the rhythm that you will have with your receivers.

"I'll decide when I get there. I'll do the other tests and see how it goes."

He was also asked about his thoughts on the other top quarterback in the 2012 NFL Draft, Stanford Cardinal QB Andrew Luck.

"Mr. Irsay hasn't said who he's picking," Griffin says of Colts owner Jim Irsay. "Andrew's a great player. If he's the top pick, I'll be happy for him. And I'm sure that, if I'm No. 1, he would be happy for me. I think it's a possibility."

"When we step into the NFL, we're not going to be the No. 1 and No. 2 quarterbacks in the league," Griffin says. "We'll be more like No. 31 and No. 32. So while there may be a competition there, we're both going to come in with a lot to learn."

"I'm getting ready to go to the only combine of my life," he says. "Next year there won't be a Wonderlic test, 40-yard dash or interviews with all the teams. So I want to take in the whole experience."

Griffin sounds as if he is definitely planning on putting on as impressive a display as he can at the Combine in Indianapolis this week. He’s hoping to turn some heads and improve his stock even more.
