NFL Combine 2012: Trent Richardson Will Skip Drills Due To Knee Injury

Alabama Crimson Tide RB Trent Richardson will not participate in on-field drills at this week's NFL Scouting Combine because of a minor knee injury, a league source said Wednesday to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.

Richardson suffered a minor injury in a practice leading up to last month’s BCS National Championship Game according to the source, and had a “minor scope” three weeks ago to alleviate discomfort. Richardson has since made good progress but will limit his activity at the combine.

The Heisman Trophy finalist is expected to be able to participate in on-field testing at Alabama’s pro day on March 7th.

Richardson had 1,679 rushing yards in 2011, breaking Mark Ingram's school record for most rushing yards in a season. He also scored 21 rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns. He remains projected as a first-round pick.
