NFL Combine 2012 Results: Robert Griffin III, Stephen Hill Blow Field Away In 40-Yard Dash

After the first day of the workout section of the NFL Combine, all anyone could talk about was Robert Griffin III's blistering pair of 40-yard dashes.

While everyone knew the Heisman Trophy winner, who finished third in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships, was fast, no one expected him to post a 4.38 and a 4.41. Michael Vick is the only QB to have run a faster 40 in Combine history.

Griffin's time overshadowed a tremendous 40 from Andrew Luck. Luck, despite being seen as more of a pocket passer at 6'4 235, ran a 4.67, fourth best among QB's, and only .02 seconds slower than LSU's Jordan Jefferson, one of the most athletic QB's in the country.

The big winner Sunday among the WR's was Georgia Tech's Stephen Hill, who may be the next deep threat from Paul Johnson's offense to become a first-round pick despite rarely getting the ball in the triple option.

Hill, who measured at 6'4 215, posted times of 4.30 and 4.31 in the 40, instantly making him a candidate to be the second WR in the draft behind Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon, a two-time Biletnikoff Award winner who did not participate in any of the Combine workouts.

And while Griffin was the big winner Sunday, his Baylor teammate, WR Kendall Wright, may have been the big loser.

At only 5’10 190, he was widely thought of as one of the best deep threats among this year’s WR class, but he posted a lackluster 4.61 time, which may end up him keeping him out of the first round.
