In what seems to be recurring theme at the 2012 NFL Combine, another largely unknown player has excelled. This time, it's Arizona State product Omar Bolden turning in the best bench-press performance among defensive backs. Bolden was able bench 225 pounds, 24 times. Bolden was one of 10 DBs to clock at least 20 reps, as Oklahoma's Jamell Fleming came in second with 23.

Fleming, it should be noted, was the only DB to get at least 20 reps who is really considered a top prospect. Although SB Nation’s latest mock draft does not have him going in the first round, Mocking The Draft does have him rated as the fifth best cornerback prospect. Flemming also finished his four-year college career with some solid numbers during his junior and senior years, making seven interceptions and knocking down 24 passes.
Admittedly, the bench press is probably not the best measurement of a DB’s skills. While strength is obviously a positive trait, most coaches and scouts are probably more interested in speed and agility.
