Cowboys Undrafted Free Agent Signings Announced

The Dallas Cowboys brought in an impressive haul of undrafted rookie free agent signings following the 2012 NFL Draft this past weekend. Overall, 21 prospects signed on with the team after the Cowboys made their seven selections, with several more players expected to attend tryouts. Dallas added six offensive linemen in hopes that one or two might pan out and help address a major area of need.

Memphis offensive guard Ronald Leary has earned the most attention. Jerry Jones said that the team nearly selected him late in the draft, but held off when they felt he could be signed later. There is talk that Leary is being considered like the Cowboys' "eighth pick" of the draft. Jones was effusive with his praise.

“The coaches think he might be the readiest to come in here and help us more than any offensive lineman. He has an opportunity to come in and contribute immediately,” Jones said. “We’re proud of that. We do have him. We really debated for the last two weeks as to how to put in action, or how to make a decision, relative to a risk issue that is subjective to some degree. ... It’s a longer-term thing. We’re ready to take that risk. He’s a good player, someone that you guys recognize as someone that can help the offensive line.”
