Chris Carr Will Be Released By Baltimore Ravens, According To Report

The Baltimore Ravens have released Chris Carr, just one year after he signed a four-year contract extension, according to NFL Network. Carr played in just nine games this season and had a salary-cap figure of $3.45 million in 2012.

Prior to 2011, Carr had carved out a pretty solid existence mostly as a nickelback. He had played in 16 games each of his first six seasons, and had a standout 2010 in which he made a career-high 61 tackles and two interceptions. But with the emergence of Lardarius Webb and Carry Williams as the starting cornerbacks and first-round pick Jimmy Smith as the top backup, there was apparently little room for the veteran Carr and his somewhat sizable salary cap hit.

In his nine appearances, Carr made just 16 tackles, did not have an interception and defensed just three passes. Those simply weren’t the kind of numbers that made him a good bargain anymore.
