Getty ImagesReports have the deal worth a total value of $50 million.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Grubbs will receive a five-year, $36 million deal that includes a $10 million signing bonus. That’s about $11.5 million less than Nicks but Grubbs isn’t that far behind Nicks talent-wise. This is a solid signing by the Saints when compared to Nicks’ deal.
The Saints’ adventurous offseason continues. From the bounty scandal to Drew Brees’ franchise tag, it’s been quite the offseason for New Orleans.

Rice will play under the $7.7 million franchise tag tender, which is basically a one-year guaranteed contract. Rice, of course, wants to be paid on a long-term deal. Rumors say he’s eyeing a similar deal as the one Adrian Peterson got, which paid him a reported $36 million in guaranteed money.
Another team could step in and try to pry Rice away from the Ravens but signing a franchise tag player requires two first round picks and no one’s going to do that.

Foxworth finished his third season with the Ravens. He only played in two games, garnering two tackles. He did not play in 2010 but played in all 16 games in 2009.
The team is clearing cap space but also letting go of players that just aren’t performing as they used to.

In his nine appearances, Carr made just 16 tackles, did not have an interception and defensed just three passes. Those simply weren’t the kind of numbers that made him a good bargain anymore.

Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that Grubbs’ agent, Pat Dye, had a “positive” meeting with the Ravens during the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis last week, but made it clear that there is no immediate anticipation of a deal.
If the Ravens are unable to come to terms with both Rice and Grubbs before the March 13 free agency deadline, they may be parting with one of their key players.

Webb’s five interceptions during the regular season were tied for the eighth-most in the NFL last year and he returned one of them for a touchdown. He also had three interceptions during the postseason, which was the most in the league.
Williams’ numbers were not quite so impressive, but he was very effective. He knocked down 18 passes and made 78 tackles. Williams was tied for the seventh most defended passes and was the sixth-leading tackler among cornerbacks last season.

Rice has expressed his desire to return to the team and the team has made it fairly clear that they don’t intend on letting 2012 arrive without the RB wearing purple and black. They’ll be hoping to work out an extension first, but it would not be a surprise if they applied the franchise tag prior to the March 5 deadline.
