Texans Free Agency 2012: Mario Williams Is The Top Player On The Market

The Houston Texans made it to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history in 2011. Once in the playoffs, they won their first game at home but were knocked out in the divisional round against the Baltimore Ravens. The amazing thing is they accomplished this even though starting quarterback Matt Schaub and backup quarterback Matt Leinart were both place on season ending IR, which left the team in T.J. Yates' hands.

The biggest free agent that the Texans are likely going to lose is also one of the biggest free agents in the NFL, defensive end Mario Williams. Williams will be highly sought after as he's this free agency class' best pass rusher so it's may be unlikely that he'll stay in Houston, but the Texans will try. Other free agents include Mike Brisiel, Chris Myers, and Derrick Ward.

The Texans don't have a lot of money to spend in free agency this year, but if they did make a move for one player, that player should be a wide receiver. Andre Johnson isn't getting any younger and he has some durability issues. Even when he's on the field, the Texans could use a new No. 2 receiver. However, they're likely to address their needs in the draft instead of free agency.
