Arkansas State vs. UL Lafayette 2012 results: Red Wolves win big, 50-27

Arkansas State defeated UL Lafayette in a critical Sun Belt Conference head-to-head matchup Tuesday, 50-27. The Red Wolves were on the road with both teams carrying a 2-1 league record. The winner would control their own destiny against UL Monroe, the only Sun Belt team without a conference loss.

The Red Wolves and the Warhawks will face each other on Nov. 8.

The Ragin Cajuns were never in this game, as Arkansas State jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the second quarter and took a 26-7 advantage into halftime. The Red Wolves converted on a pair of field goals in the opening period, and then in the second, there was Frankie Jackson's 11-yard touchdown run and a 35-yard Ryan Aplin pass to Julian Jones. Box Score Hero: The Red Wolves’ run game and play callers. At one point there were 27 straight rushing plays dialed up by Arkansas State. And they scored 50 points, on the road.

Rankings Ramifications: Of course neither team is ranked, but it was a big game for the Sun Belt standings.

But Did They Cover? According to the odds, this was an upset of epic proportions. The Ragin Cajuns were four-point favorites and got blown out by the Red Wolves
