Broncos vs. Bengals, Week 9: Manning breaks comeback record

No one has has more fourth quarter comebacks in NFL history than Peyton Manning.

Peyton Manning threw for three more touchdowns on Sunday to add to his already impressive resume, but the long-time pro established another NFL record in the 31-23 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Since Cincinnati led going into the fourth quarter, the two touchdown passes to Eric Decker and Joel Dreessen gave Manning the 37th fourth quarter comeback victory of his career:

Peyton Manning threw two straight passes that were intercepted and as a result, set himself up to beat an NFL record that was held by the great Dan Marino.

The Broncos trailed by three heading into the fourth quarter against the Bengals when Manning led the Broncos on a scoring drive capped off by a Joel Dreessen touchdown to take the lead. Peyton Manning now has the NFL record for most fourth quarter and overtime comebacks in NFL History.

Dan Marino held the previous record for 36, but Manning tied him earlier this season when Denver came back on the road against the Chargers before breaking it today. Former Broncos quarterback John Elway was tied with Manning at 35 after the Week 1 victory over the Steelers.

The record may not stay Manning's for long. Tom Brady already has 26 come-from-behind victories to his credit. Of course, both quarterbacks are merely padding resumes that will send them both to the Pro Football Hall of Fame once they retire.
