Rams vs. Seahawks results: Seattle edges St. Louis in regular-season finale, 20-13

After a win over the St. Louis Rams, the Seattle Seahawks are entering the playoffs on a high note.

Russell Wilson plunged into the end zone from one yard out with 1:39 remaining in the game, and the Seattle Seahawks capped off an impressive regular season with a 20-13 win over the St. Louis Rams Sunday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

The Seahawks (11-5) had already wrapped up a playoff spot, and Sunday’s win guaranteed them the No. 5 seed in the NFC. The Rams (7-8-1) entered the game having already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Seattle opened the scoring with a 43-yard field goal from Steven Hauschka with 10:40 left in the second quarter, but the Rams took a 7-3 lead on their next possession. In a game that was back-and-forth throughout, Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein connected on a 25-yard field goal with 11:25 left in regulation to tie the game at 13-13.

With 5:11 on the clock and the game tied, the Seahawks took over at their own 10-yard line. Facing a third-and-5 at the Seattle 27, Wilson passed to Golden Tate for a 44-yard gain down the right side. Five plays later, the rookie quarterback scored the winning touchdown.

Seattle had a chance to clinch the NFC West title with a win and a San Francisco 49ers loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks did their job, but San Francisco knocked off Arizona, 27-13.

Best/worst stat of the game

If you love hard-nosed, defensive football, you probably enjoyed this game. The Seahawks finished with 362 yards and 17 first downs, and the Rams had just 331 yards and 19 first downs.

Fantasy studs/duds

Wilson had a big day for fantasy owners. He completed 15-of-19 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown, and he rushed nine times for 58 yards and another score.

Steven Jackson, who recently mentioned possibly retiring after the season, didn’t contribute much. Jackson finished with 52 yards on 11 carries and seven catches for 45 yards.
