Bill O’Brien NFL rumors: Eagles, Browns among 4 teams interested

Penn State head coach Bill O’Brien is drawing interest from several NFL teams with head coaching vacancies.

With several NFL coaching jobs opening up Monday, Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien is drawing interest from from a few teams. The Eagles, Browns, Cardinals and Chargers want to discuss their vacancies with O'Brien, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

O’Brien was named head coach at Penn State on Jan. 7, 2012, replacing the legendary Joe Paterno following the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Facing NCAA sanctions and the loss of several players to transfer, O’Brien led the Nittany Lions to a surprising 8-4 record overall and 6-2 mark in Big Ten play. Penn State allowed 19.1 points per game in 2012, ranking third in the conference.

Before taking the Penn State job, O'Brien spent five years as an assistant with the New England Patriots, where he held the offensive coordinator position in 2011. During that season, the Patriots were second in the NFL with 428.0 yards per game, and their 32.1 points per contest ranked third in the league.
