Jose Lobaton has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after leaving Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers with a shoulder injury. The Tampa Bay Rays catcher at the time said that he would not need to be placed on the DL, but apparently that wasn't the case. The team will bring up Chris Gimenez from the minors to start in place of Lobaton against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
Jose Lobaton Injury: Rays Catcher Placed On 15-Day DL
Jose Lobaton has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore shoulder suffered Thursday against the Detroit Tigers. The Rays will recall Chris Gimenez to start at catcher Sunday.

Jose Molina started the Rays' last two games against the Red Sox, both losses. The 36-year-old's body isn't equipped to handle the stress of a third straight start, necessitating Gimenez's move up to the majors and Lobaton's placement on the DL.
Gimenez will catch Matt Moore on Jackie Robinson Day at Fenway Park. Moore gave up four hits and two earned runs in 6 and two-thirds innings pitched against the Tigers April 10.
