Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre will undergo an MRI on his strained left hamstring Monday, the team announced Sunday. He suffered the injury while running the bases in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader in Detroit.

Beltre isn't in the lineup for Sunday's rubber match against the Tigers, and he's expected to miss Texas' entire three-game homestand against the New York Yankees. Even so, he's not convinced the injury is serious. He missed five weeks in 2011 after straining the same hamstring.

“I don’t think it will be a big deal,” Beltre told reporters Sunday. “It will be a couple of days. I’ll get an MRI tomorrow and go from there.”

“I knew last year when it happen, it wasn’t good,” he added. “This is different.”

The injury disrupts a solid start to Beltre's season. In 56 at-bats, he's hit .304 with two home runs and seven RBI. Alberto Gonzalez started at third place Sunday in Beltre's absence.
