    The good news for Hudson, who is just 25, is that after about a year’s worth of rehab from TJ surgery, many pitchers come back as good or better than before, so he could still have many successful years ahead.

    But he’s had a miserable season so far in 2012, posting a 7.35 ERA in nine starts, and going on the disabled list earlier in the year with a shoulder injury. He’s back again, this time for a forearm strain that might be related to an elbow injury.

    The Diamondbacks have recovered from a slow start, and they entered Wednesday just five games back in the NL West. They’ll have to rely on their young pitching sooner than they expected if they want to keep it up.
