Chelsea has agreed to a fee with Wigan Athletic for the transfer of winger Victor Moses. The 21-year-old has been courted by Chelsea for quite some time, and the Blues have apparently finally paid up enough for Wigan to let go of their young star.

He first struggled to break into the Wigan team after arriving from Crystal Palace in 2010, but turned a corner in his career and became a star last season. His six goals and six assists were instrumental in keeping Wigan in the Premier League.
Wigan Athletic confirmed via their official website that, after four unsuccessful bids, Chelsea finally met Wigan’s valuation of the player with their fifth bid. Wigan paid £2.5m for Moses and will almost certainly make a healthy profit on their investment, though they haven’t left themselves much time to find a replacement. Wigan have pulled off multiple narrow escapes from the drop zone since they came up to the Premier League in 2005, but might find it difficult to pull off the feat again without an infusion of talent.
Chelsea, meanwhile, add another piece at a position where they already had considerable depth. This is probably bad news for Marko Marin, who probably wondered why he signed for Chelsea for about five seconds before checking his bank account balance. The Blues now have an embarrassment of riches in attacking midfield and wide positions.
