One day after Wigan Athletic confirmed that a transfer fee had been agreed, Victor Moses is officially a Chelsea player. The club announced on its website that the 21-year-old winger, who represents Nigeria at the senior level, has agreed terms (and presumably passed a medical) and will now join up with his new squad.
Chelsea Confirm Victor Moses Signing
With a transfer fee of £7M plus £2M in potential add-ons, Moses is more in keeping with Chelsea's cheaper summer buys such as Marko Marin and Cesar Azpilicueta rather than superstar names like Eden Hazard and Oscar. He does promise to provide significant attacking depth on the flanks, although it's far from clear whether this is the best move he could have made at this point in his career -- he'll go from regular starts at Wigan to become a bench player* for the Blues.
*Admittedly a highly sought after one. Latics owner Dave Whelan confirmed that Chelsea made no fewer than four unsuccessful bids for Moses before finally coming in with an agreeable offer on the fifth.
