The Big East -- well, the football conference that will soon be known by another name -- may still be trying to attract BYU, according to CBS Sports’ Jeremy Fowler.
Big East still trying to ‘court’ BYU, email shows
An email from East Carolina athletic director Terry Holland laid out a plan to lure the Cougars to the Big East.

East Carolina athletic director Terry Holland emailed his future conference mates in late December, laying out a plan that would help “court” the Cougars. Included in the plan were a negotiated five-year extension to the conference’s current TV contract and schools’ rights to negotiate separate TV deals for their own home games. Holland expressed a belief that the plan would help draw in BYU and other schools.
“The above plan would allow us to ‘court’ BYU and possibly other potential conference members.”
The conference currently has 10 members and will add an 11th when Navy joins in 2015. It would like to add at least one more member to get to 12 and have the option of staging a conference championship game.
