Tracy Porter signs with Oakland Raiders, according to report

Former Bronco cornerback Tracy Porter signed with one of Denver’s biggest rivals, the Oakland Raiders.

The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent cornerback Tracy Porter, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Last season, Porter played for the Raiders' biggest AFC West rivals, the Denver Broncos. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The Broncos signed Porter to a one-year, $4 million contract last March, but he only played in six games in 2012 due to symptoms from a seizure and a concussion. The Denver secondary managed to put up solid numbers without Porter, allowing opposing offenses to pass for 199.6 yards per game in the regular season, which ranked third in the NFL. The Broncos decided to part ways with their cornerback, who became the odd man out in the defensive backfield.

In Oakland, Porter will certainly have an opportunity to make an impact. The Raiders ranked 20th last season in passing defense, giving up 235.9 yards per game. They allowed 28 passing touchdowns, tied for fourth-most in the league, and hauled in 11 interceptions, which tied for seventh-fewest.

Porter, a five-year veteran out of Indiana, was the New Orleans Saints' second-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. In 49 career games, he has compiled 174 tackles, eight interceptions, and 38 passes defensed. The biggest knock on the 26-year-old is his durability. Porter has never played in more than 14 games in a season, and he's played in 12 or fewer four times.
